CS50

CS50 coursework and programming projects

Computer science coursework spanning a Scratch game, C algorithms, Python, SQL and Flask web applications. Coursework passed; final presentation pending.

PROJECT NOTES

Goal

Work through CS50's computer science curriculum, applying the concepts in programming assignments across several languages and types of application.

Constraints

The assignments combined supplied specifications and starter code with my own implementations. The work covered command-line programs, file processing, database queries and interactive web applications.

Process

I built a Scratch game called Don't run to the sun, using sprites, custom blocks, score and health variables, sound and player input.

The C assignments covered text processing, substitution ciphers, voting systems, image filters, audio processing and recovering JPEGs from raw data. Speller used a hash table and linked lists to load and check a dictionary.

In Python I worked on DNA sequence matching and a World Cup tournament simulation, alongside Python versions of earlier exercises. SQL assignments included Songs, Movies and the Fiftyville investigation.

The web work included a multi-page homepage, an interactive trivia quiz and Flask applications. Birthdays handled form input and SQLite records. Finance included registration and login, stock quotes, buying and selling shares, a portfolio overview, transaction history and cash deposits.

Result

I have passed all the coursework. To officially complete CS50, I still need to submit a presentation of a personal project.

This entry brings the coursework together as one collection, from visual programming and command-line algorithms to database-backed web applications.
